Re: Gotta be kiddin

years ago I was given a few never before puiblished photos from a guy who flew in in B-17 over in Egland during the war. He gave me a very nice picture of a captured Ju-88 and a captured FW-190A with British Markings pretty cool bet they would sell for good money. Some people will probably pay good money for historic aviation one of's. Those photos could be used in museums and on t.v. programs.

Re: Gotta be kiddin

You guys know what that is don't you.....
That was taken in 1942 on the set of "The Flying Tigers" with John Wayne.
Look at the canopy area and cowl area and you can tell.
There is a movie buff at work who has this same picture and he got it from his grandfather years ago who was working on the set at the time.
These flying tigers movie stills were owned by Republic Pictures at the time.

The real deal? That's almost as bad as the toast with John Travolta on Saturday Night Fever burned into it...

Re: Gotta be kiddin

I love the scene in the movie when he jumps down off of the wing and replies to the bullet holes with "Termites". That is classic John Wayne. On a side note, the planes were more like homebuilts, although I don't think they could fly. The take off scenes were real p-40's and models. These planes were able to taxi on their own power though.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Gotta be kiddin

reg

Flying Tigers
1942 *v
USAAF- John Wayne; Almost all P-40 mock-ups, stock American Volunteer Group footage, Spitfire footage from "The Lion Has Wings", and "Air Force". Some air footage was shot around the Curtiss facility in Buffalo with pre-delivery repainted P-40's. Apparently the set was an authentic reproduction of the AVG facility, but set on a California studio ranch. The very odd bomber is the the only Capelis XC-12 'Safety Aircraft Transport' built. Current tape version of "Flying Tigers" is now colourized.
