Bats outa hell?

Yet another weird day in the life of yours truly,

Whilst sitting here reading all these excellent posts something wizzed past my face!

A BAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eek, they cant hurt you I said to myself , I answered yes I know that but I'm outa here.
I rushed down stairs to find the door open and Lorraine outside taking the washing off the line.
Theres a rud.y great bat in the house I shouted, dont be stupid she said, well go and look for yourself I said.

In she went and I thought to myself, wait for it, wait for it, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAArrrrh , yep her she comes trying to break the sound barrier.
A BAT, A BAT, yes dear I know dear I told you, WELL GET IT OUT , dont just stand there GET IT OUT.

By now the neighbours were out to see what all the fuss was about, A BAT? Never.
Well go and look I replied, I know a bat when I see one.

Bu..r that said my neighbour ,it might be Christopher Lee, Christopher who? You know, that guy that drinks blood in the films and changes into a bat.

EH,,,what? oh you mean Dracula, (oh yer that really makes me feel good).

Well some ones going to have to do something about it said Lorraine. I suppose that some one is me I said under my breath, Oh well pull yourself together man and Tally ho.

I went into the house and up the stairs (ok I admit it, with a great deal of trepidation), and went into the room.
There was the bat flying around and somehow (early type of radar I assume) managing to miss me and everything else.
So first step lets open all the windows I said, good thinking Jim yes lets do that( I talk to myself a lot).
I opened all the windows in the room and the next room.(bathroom).
Then I sat on the floor and watched.
Round and round went the bat, well I reckon it will get so dizzy it will drop to the floor and I can grab it quick and out the window it goes.
Well it still went round and round and ignored the open windows.
I know I will turn out all the lights, I dont know why I thought of that it just seemed the right thing to do.

So out went the lights, now that was spooky alone in a dark room with a bat is not my idea of a pleasant evening in.
Ah Ha plan B, switch on the lights downstairs, maybe that will attract it down there and then maybe it will exit the way it came in, through the door that lorraine had left open.

Ah success down stairs it went, but then it ignored the open door and started circling the kitchen.
SCREAM! what the *&$"* was that ? Oh its just the neighbour, she saw it through the window and has run off back to her place screaming, (well at least thats one silly old bat out of the way).
By now I had regained my composure and was ready to do battle, oh BTW its amazing , these things can fly without making a sound did you guys know that? I didnt until now.
Just then it decided that it had wreaked enough havoc for one night ,did a wing over and neatly made an exit.

EEEEEEEEEEEEk!!!!!!!!!! oh yes it just missed Lorraine so she gave it a parting EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!! just to send it on its way.

Well there you are, its been a funny evening.

God Bless America.

Re: Bats outa hell?

We've had a few critters in the house ( red bellied black snake last week ) but so far we are 'bat-free'. The Happy Householder's Guide just does'nt offer any advice for this type of home invasion, maybe playing Meatloaf really loud may have hastened the flying mammals exit

Ah well you see there was a method in my apparent madness, I figured that the lights outside might attract it!

Thats my story and I am sticking to it.

Starman I await that particular bird to come down in price before I buy although I think I may have a long wait!

Re: Bats outa hell?

Be careful Jim. Bats are a protected species and you don't want the 'eco' police around giving you 10 years in jail for scaring a bat! What would we do without you?

Glad to hear your Bat-story has a happy ending, Jim. I'm staying tuned to the same Bat-channel and Bat-hour for more Bat-story!

I too am awaiting for the price to come down on that B-25 before I go "Bats Outta Hell" to go and get me one!

Re: Bats outa hell?

Just between us guys, I am worried.

Thinking back, the last place Lorraine and me lived we had a plague of toads and newts!
Ok we did live next to a nature reserve famous for its Natterjack Toad colony, but I am seeing a pattern develop here.
First toads and newts, then a black cats moves in with us and now Bats!!!

You get my drift gentlemen???
