Re: Live Buzzbomb Found in London

I read about an old couple a few years ago who were on vacation in France and found a old bomb. They though that it would be neat to take it home, untill someone found out that it was a old musterd gas bomb and still very live!!!! In fact, they say that to this day on some world war one battefields still have gas coming out of the ground!!!.

Thumbs up Re: Live Buzzbomb Found in London

In the 60s, the BBC ran a series called: "Danger--UXB.: UXB meaning unexploded bomb. It was a real nail biter about bomb disposal teams and I wish I could fine it again. Good acting and a sense of what it must have been in war-torn London.

Re: Live Buzzbomb Found in London

That subject about the oceans of the UK was covered by another programme which visted a toepeadoed Royal Canadian Navy corvette . It showed the depthcharges still there but the comp-b explosive was breaking down with age.

Re: Live Buzzbomb Found in London

Old naval artillary ranges are also abit of a worry. We were doing the sewer installation on a nursing home south of Perth a few years back when the excavator driver got all excited and through himself out of the cab.I was to busy laughing at him to realise an old 4 inch shell had rolled out of the bucket and was sitting at my feet.Turns out it was harmless but the army boys took great pleasure in blowing it up just tobe on the safe side.

Re: Live Buzzbomb Found in London

Here in Orlando some old WWII ordenice was found just recently near a school by some parents. Noone was hurt. Left over from WWII they said and probably belonged to McCoy AFB or the old Navy base (both been closed, the AFB since like 1972). They will clear the rest of the bombs, mortar projectiles, practice bombs, etc. in the next few weeks before school starts again. Would love to have some old practice- ammo.
