My home made EI stand.

Finally got some parts for my $30 EI Mustang I got off Ebay last year and decided it was time to make a stand of some kind for it. This is acrylic and ceramic tile. Just some materials I had laying around the house. It's just ok but I thought I'd share. Should I paint it black maybe?

Re: My home made EI stand.

Nice base, and I agree with Skunky, paint the base black.

AND, how did you attach the acrylic to the ceramic base?

I agree with the others, paint the base black, leave the rest clear!

I took the EI stand apart and traced it first. Then, cut the acrylic out and filed it down. After that I drilled holes in the acrylic part and the tile closely matching the location and size to the original EI stand. I superglued pieces of cut clothes hanger in the holes and glued the whole thing to the actual tile base. The acrylic and metal rods are both glued to the ceramic tile. That's pretty much it. I found the pin in the top of the stand that fits in the plane was critical and messed with that the most. I painted it and the bottom piece of the acrylic to hide the holes and pins. It is better black. Thanks.
