I was curious about how everyone cleans there planes. I dust about every 2 to 3 months with a paint brush. I just wish there was a way to untarnish the Corgi's polished plane's. My CripesA' Mighty is looking more weathered now and the stabilizers have no shine now.....



this is the type of brush I use:

Every time I take my pickup to the carwash I just load as many as I can into the bed...They come back spot-free and smell like turtle wax.

Try a "Swiffer Duster." Works like a charm and the static in the duster means you're not even touching the model.

Keep 'em in the box and wipe off the top of the box every now and then.

I use makeup applicator brushes. They're about the softest dusters you can find short of archeologists brushes. A couple of long-handle foundation and blush brushes work great for dusting planes and cars. And with the whole metrosexual fad going on now, you don't even get a second glance at the checkout counter when you buy them.

There is one good thing that comes from the onerous monthly task of dusting. When you dust and clean 200+ aircraft you really appreciate the quality and work that goes into creating (in most cases) the mini masterpieces that interest us. The Corgi Lysander, Swordfish, Gladiator, Gemini Spitfires, Dragon P-47s, Century Wings to name but a few, demonstrate just how far manufacturers have progressed in the last few years.
The down side to all that is the minor breakages; aerials, pitot tubes,etc. And of course the lost bits; tail wheels, guns etc and the forensic examination of the floor with words sounding like, duck, buck, ruck, echoing round the den!! The joys of collecting

No brushes for me. I use compressed air cans you use to blow dust off your computer and keyboard. Works like a charm.
