| Diecast Display Stands
Last edited by STARMAN 352ND : 09-09-2007 at 05:54 AM.
Reason: commercial link
Is anyone familiar with these stands? I was thinking of purchasing one to see if my GMP Texas Longhorn P-40 would fit on it. I figured I would try to find one at a local hobby shop as the shipping and handle will double the overall cost. hobbylinc.com/htm/mdp/mdp6399.htm"]www.hobbylinc.com/htm/mdp/mdp6399.htm

| Re: Diecast Display Stands The stands you asked about may be lightwight for the GMP P-40. With this kind of stand you will have to drill a two holes in the bottom wing of the P-40...Not too sure you want to do that. JP ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Diecast Display Stands No support.. After studying the pic, the only way to mount/balance something on that stand would be to drill two screws thru the holes in the arms and mount it to the plane.. Sorry, Not for me... | |||||||||||||

| Re: Diecast Display Stands If your talking about drilling holes in the P-40. Because you would have to rethread the holes once you do that If you have the re-thread tool your fine ...But if you don't that screw hole can be a little tricky because it's small. I was watching my friend try this on his GMP P-51D Mustang and it was tricky to do without the re-thread tool.Above all there was no real support without drilling the holes. As much as i do stands on some of my planes i would not do this on a GMP IMHO. If you were to get a re-thread tool it would look like this. ![]() JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: Diecast Display Stands
Even the tools in America are better than over here, in all my many many years in engineering I have never seen one of those tools. I have always used my trusty multi head tap set, interchangeable heads fitted onto a T handle. That tool you show is a handy looking thing for smaller thread making.

| Re: Diecast Display Stands Oh boy -- we could really use some decent after-market stands. I vote for a sturdy clear crystal-like plastic to fit my Corgi aircraft and available in 3 separate sizes with metal stubs to fit the underneath hole. Supplied with shims if necessary. I'd also like one that could take 3 aircraft at once in some form of formation. Anyone?! ANYONE!!! ![]() | |||||||||||||
