What's your shelf depth?

I'm trying to determine the average depth of the shelves on which you display your models?

Re: What's your shelf depth?

Well most of my curios have a depth of at least 15.5 inches to 16 inches.
I have one that is at 13.5 and it didn't pan out very well for my 1/72 bombers
but worked ok, for the fighters it great.
The 15.5 to 16 inch one works great with all scales.

Re: What's your shelf depth?

I have two curio's. One is 12" deep, and my 1:72 bombers fit nicely in them, the other is 7", works well for 1:72 fighters.

Cool Re: What's your shelf depth?

My display cases have 40" wide X 20" deep shelves. Plenty large enough for even the 1:48 scale Franklin Mint B-24 & B-17.

Red face Re: What's your shelf depth?

The aquarium tanks I use, the depth is 13.25". it can accommodate 8 birds (1:72) parked or in flight. Inserting a shelf brings it to 16 models. A supportive shelf above the top cover is 12" deep suspended by Bud Vases,(7.5" high) allowing a 24"wide space to accommodate for 36 1:72 models. Depending on the space available, I wouldn't go past 12". IMHO.

Re: What's your shelf depth?

Mine are European made, so they are metric, but it equates to just over 12 in. With my preferrence for 1/48, that's just barely sufficient. I need deeper cabinets to display my 1/48 scale WW II medium bombers/transports. Even the FM/Armour A-10 doesn't fit on the 12 in. shelves (almost...). Granted, it would, except that all my cabinets have glass doors.

Re: What's your shelf depth?

Right now I don't have any shelf space. In fact I'm about to do a renovation to add a room so that I can display my models. My thinking is that I would like to go deep enough to comfortably fit the 1/72 four engined bombers and 1/32 fighters so that would imply more than 18". My thinking was at least 0.5m.

Re: What's your shelf depth?

Im keeping my favourite planes (and the odd car) in 400mm wide x 400mm deep glass display cases. 1/72 bombers, 1/32 fighters fit ok.
