Question Display Buidlings

Just got to thinking as I was doing some repairing on my Corgi 1/144 scale card stock hanger, does anyone make any buildings for 1/72 scale or close even 1/100 scale for a diorama? Buildings that would have been on a WWII airfield US or British, German or other. we can now get figures that kinda work as well as you can come up with a descent ground area via train stuff or other sources but no descent hangers, tower or the like.

I have a 4/6 board that currently has mats of current airports from EZ toys, with my Corgi 1/144 Hanger and it does not look bad, just been wanting to make it better and without breaking the bank by doing so. The 1/144 scale hanger does not look to bad with the 1/72 scale planes, which sounds weird but it actaully works out ok. For a while I was into 1/400 scale commercial and some fella on one of the forums started posting links to color printouts you could do on cardstock and cut and fold together some ok looking airport buildings and of course Herpa makes some nice airport accessories, wish this stuff existed for or close to 1/72 scale planes, could be a lot of fun.

Any links, ideas and pics would be great.

Re: Display Buidlings

If you are into building plastic models Airfix used to make a WWII control tower and some RAF vehicles (ambulance, fire truck).

Question Re: Display Buidlings

Its hard to believe no one else has an interest in making little dioramas with the 1/72 scale planes? Or maybe there just isnt any sources or answers on getting anything?

Even in my display case it looks cool if you have some tanks for buildings in scale or close that would have been around these planes in there day.

Re: Display Buidlings

I wish there were more choices. Seems like all the buildings are in railroad scale, which don't quite work for 1/72...

I saw this the other day - comes close..

Re: Display Buidlings

I'd like to see some display buildings. It would make my presentation more interesting, I think.

Re: Display Buidlings

What scale is HO? I think I remember it being 1/87, and with model power the scale is usually off a little, these could work nicely.

Re: Display Buidlings

Dear Flaps,

Didn't you see the thread I posted on the free 1.144 buildings? Just in case you didn't here it is. Download and have fun! MoMo :

1.144 card buildings free plans

Check out Tom Tom's site for free, downloadable plans for card hangers and stuff! Also links to other sites where you can find out about cheap card options in many scales for planes and ships, etc. I found many fascinating ideas.

It's something to think about and explore!

Re: Display Buidlings

KInda pricey, but these look nice: http://www.customdioramas.co.uk/index.htm

I think these are for wargamers but they still look appropriate for diorama use: http://store.foxholetoys.com/coprdi.html
