Presidential aircraft at Corgi Field

The National Museum of the United States Air Force authorized the display of several of their Presidential aircraft at Stillwater International Airport (Corgi Field) last year and I thought I’d share the photos of that event with the members of this forum.

1. An overview of the civil ramp which was locked down by security for the display of the VIP aircraft.

2. President Eisenhower’s Lockheed VC-121A. This was named “Columbine” (the state flower of Colorado) by Mamie Eisenhower.

3. “Columbine” taxiing out.

4. Boeing VC-137A as used by Presidents Kennedy and Johnson.

5. The VC-137A being serviced.

6. The VC-137C as used by President Nixon.

7. The VC-137C being positioned by a tug.

8. An external power cart supplying power to the aircraft.

9. Several aircraft books of Presidential interest.

Re: Presidential aircraft at Corgi Field

Very cool, Bob....I read the Kenneth Walsh book.A very interesting read. More about the personalities of the presidents themselves than about the aircraft...(I was most amused at his observations about Jimmy Carter )..

BTW, if you ever need any spare parts for SAM 26000, don't hesitate to let me know....

Re: Presidential aircraft at Corgi Field

Nice Display A-109E. I also have that second Corgi Air Force One. My family has a toilet from Air Force One that they bought from one of the bigger developers in the Hawaiian islands. It was taken off the Reagan Era VC-137. Talk about artifact, I'd love to attach a plaque that says what Reagan did there, and put a shelf with the model above it.

And in case anybody is wondering, it is a light blue Throne, which matches the livery color of the VC-137.
