Re: DC-3s & C-47s at Corgi Field

What's that on the horizon? It is the County Airport Authority to tell the owner of the hangar that he doesn't own the hangars and that they are going to raise rent 300% or they are going to turn the field into a Wallmart. Sounds mean doesn't it? That just happened at KAGC where I live. I am a little bitter about it. All joking aside, I love Corgi field, great pics and backdrop. I also like the C-47.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Thanks for the kind words, MD; much appreciated. For the non-cognoscenti, "KAGC" is the ICAO identifier for Allegheny County Airport in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I've been there a number of times, MD, refueling during transits from Philadelphia to Minneapolis. Love Corporate Jets...I mean, CJ Systems...FBO building.

No fear here, Skunky. Corgi Field is - as you know - the former NAS Willow Grove. The Navy, therefore, holds the title to the land and only leases the field to the city of Stillwater. The United States Navy does not recognize Wal-Mart as having sovereign nation status, or any other status, for that matter.

The bottom line? Wal-Mart has little chance of making incursions in the airport and you will continue to be plagued by further series of Corgi Field photos. Submit! You know you have to....

Re: DC-3s & C-47s at Corgi Field

Great shot of NAS Willow Grove, Skunky. Kudos! Love the P2V, too. The Navy Reserve squadrons were flying P2V-5s from there when I was a lad. Here's the field, about 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

....and carrying Willow Grove's tail codes of 7W, here's your favorite aeroplane.

Re: DC-3s & C-47s at Corgi Field

Thanks,Bob!...Love that paint scheme. The reserves were flying the -5s and -7s when I was just a juvenile delinquent at NAS So.Weymouth,MA.Somewhere around here I have a photo of myself beaming from the cockpit of one at about age 9.
Would make an interesting diecast, wouldn't ya say?.......but as you know, ASW aircraft are woefully under-represented even in the world of styrene.
I'd love to see one at Corgi Field someday....
