Re: Commercial Display Cases are the way to go.

I agree totally on using commercial display cases everything I've found in this area is just loaded with wood and stupid designs in the glass. The case I have now is by far the best I could find but it's really not that great and I wouldn't mind replacing it.

About two years ago, I found that my collection had gotten so large that dusty bookshelves were no longer acceptable for display purposes. So I trolled the Internet and found a company in Minnesota that specializes in display cases for modelers at fair prices. I now have a number of lighted cases, each about six feet high and three feet wide, with glass shelves and sliding doors that I'm quite pleased with. These can hold about 100-120 pounds of diecast each, distributed on five surfaces and are deep enough to accommodate a 1:72nd scale B-17, providing it's angled slightly. I average about 75-100 models per case, including all scales up to 1:48 and a mix of wheels-up and wheels-down configurations. They also have larger cases, if desired. The best news is the pricing of these cases. Mine averaged about $875 apiece, including delivery and installation. If anyone is interested, call Doug Stearley at Showcase Designs ( 800-833-2226 or 651-489-5328 ) or check out their website (www.showcasedesigns.biz).

Re: Commercial Display Cases are the way to go.

My display cases comprise of the following. Modified Detolf Cabinets and aquarium tanks. I hope to complete all my present ideas by January. Will get a decent photographer (it's not my thing) to present for me. Swoop.

I am actually looking for aquarium tanks for my display, how much do you pay for them? the ones I have found go for 300CA$ which seems alot.
Do you buy them at a pet shop?

Cheers

It gets dull around here late at night after the duty nurse tucks you old timers in for the night. I have to surf the old threads to find out what I missed before I joined.

Find an outlet that makes their own tanks. Petsmart etc. tanks will be pricey, but here in Ontario there is an outlet called Big Al's,.... makes the tanks,... sells reasonably priced.
There might be one in Ottawa if you do not have them in Quebec.
