Dioramas and Displays

While I'll continue to buy these little fellas, I've got over 350 military pieces now. My attention is beginning to move towards how to better display what I already have. Has anyone ventured into creating his or her own dioramas? I am looking to take one of my spare B-17s and build a crash scene diorama with it.

I just want to know if anyone else out there was doing anything like this, or was pursuing new ways of displaying their models.

Re: Dioramas and Displays

Awesome diorama! Lots of work went into that lot. I haven't tried but have checked a local hobby shop for the tools of the trade. I reckon it will cost time and patience. That's why I started collecting diecast.

Given the cost of dioramas from Corgi I guess doing your own unique ones become a real option. BTW they do sell dioramas on the UK forum.

Please reassure us that you don't intend doing this to your Corgi Nine 'o Nine ... it would be an act of die-cast vandalism no matter how artistic or just the cause .

Re: Dioramas and Displays

I haven't ever been able to pull of any display since I hung my models from my celing as a kid . I DID glue cotton balls painted black to the Zero's cowling, but that was about it. Those dioramas are AMAZING!

I have a friend at work whose Dragon Zero was dropped by a co-worker. He's working on a crash scene with the remains. I will try to post pics when he's done.

Thumbs up Re: Dioramas and Displays

The B-17 wreck is really cool. Did you do that yourself? I assume that it's a plastic kit? Very nice.

That pic comes from the old Monogram 1/48 scale B-17 kit, I believe that dio was built by well known modeler, Shepard Paine, he is one of the best. I think Monogram at the time, had Paine doing dios of their products for marketing purposes...it's a great scene!

P.S.

If you want to see more of Paine's amazing dios, check out his book "How To Build Dioramas"...
