GREAT looking model, General!

And, to Jim's comment as to how floats barely affected the performance, I wonder how that could be? It would seem to me that "no wheels" vs HUGE floats would make quite a difference in performance!

From memory I recollect that float trials were done with both the VB and Mk1X Spits.

It would be more accurate of me to say that the floats made little difference to the handling and manoeuvrability of the Plane.
As to its handling on water ,not surprisingly because of Supermarines pre war experience with its racing floatplanes it handled very well on take off and landing.

I think the idea of the Floatplane Spitfire was for it to be used in the Pacific conflict.

As top speed , hmm I think the top speed of the float version was around 380mph compared to 400 mph for the land version at around 20.000feet but don't quote me on that. Not bad for a plane on floats don't you think.

Vb version I am not sure what its top speed was, I would guess around 320mph give or take a little.
Also keep in mind that the frontal area of the floats is very small and that the weight of the floats was probably no more than that of the undercarriage.

Heck you even fixed the crow bar on the door panel.

This one even comes equipped with seat belts.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Atogether , that is a stunning piece of work CC.

The finished plane is one of the best builds I have seen.

I am just a touch biased towards the Sptfire.

Kind of like the Spitfire too.Still have a couple of Spitfire 1/48th scale kits sitting on the shelf waiting to get built. Next one will probably be a desert paint scheme.
