Summer project 1/48th Mirage P.Z.L. 37 Los

Postman just dropped off one of my summer projects. It's a Mirage 1/48th scale Polish P.Z.L. 37 Los bomber. I had not had a kit from Mirage before and was unsure what the quality of the kit would be like. The kit is made in Poland and thought that it might be one of those middle of the road kits as far as quality goes. Was I ever wrong, kit quality on this one is pretty impressive. Kit has moveable tail surfaces, extensive interior detail, and bomb bay with ordinance to name a few of the model plusses. It also has markings for three aircraft two Polish and one Rumanian. Not sure, but it seems like the Mirage the company that made this is no more, shame because they put out a really nice kit. I also snapped up a couple of there P.Z.L. P.11Cs too (Kind of glad I went ahead and picked these two up.). I will be posting shot of this one when I start work on it this summer. Have to get some reference material for paint scheme on this one, plans are all in Polish.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Thumbs up Re: Summer project 1/48th Mirage P.Z.L. 37 Los

I had a look at this kit, as well as that of the 1/48 PZL-11 from the same origin, at a local model shop : Topnotch ! (the prices too !)

Now, what you need is a 1/48 PZL-P23.

The PZL P23 is one I am currently looking for. I have found some aftermarket detail parts for one, now just have to find the kit. I got pretty lucky on the PZL 37, normally it is pretty pricey, but I picked this one up for under $25.00s. (Also got some good deals on the two PZL 11Cs)

I definitely will post some photos of this one when its done. I have a couple PZL 11Cs coming from the same company and will probably do both of them first. Currently I am finishing up a Spitfire on floats, Hope to have the current project done some time next week. It still has a bit of work left on it, but here is how it looks so far.

That Spit looks pretty interesting. I'd be keen to see shots of the completed model.

Re: Summer project 1/48th Mirage P.Z.L. 37 Los

The Mirage Rumanian PZL P.11c arrived in the mail today, yep another summer project, maybe late spring. Well Mirage did not disappoint me on this kit either. Overall it is another impressive looking kit. It also comes with a small fret of photo etch parts and decals for both a Rumanian aircraft and also decals for a Polish aircraft. I plan on doing this one with the Rumanian markings. Just waiting on one more Mirage PZL P.11c to come in and it will be done as a Polish aircraft. After seeing these two Mirage kits, plan on picking up a few more. Here are a couple of photos of the kit, and this one does have English directions in additions to the Polish ones (Much appreciated).

CC, if you don't already have it, an interesting reference on the Rumanian Air Force---with lots of pictures---is "Rumanian Air Force: The Prime decade, 1938-1947", a squadron/signal publication authored by Denes Bernad. I'm planning to repaint several diecasts in Rumanian schemes and this is a handy guide. I think that I got my copy from Zenith Press a while back but I assume that Squadron also carries it.

I picked that one up last year, and you are right about it having a good selection of Rumanian Air Force photos.
