New pics of Pearl Harbor Dec7,1941

Here are some pics I received in an email. I don't know if they have been around awhile and supposedly, they were found in an old Brownie camera locked up in a footlocker, but I thought they were neat.

Thanks for posting those pictures Hworth! I've not seen most of them. Very moving if you've ever been to the Memorial.

Check the sailors bodily moving the singed PBY... very impressive and historic. Thanks Harry. Each pic is worthy of close study.

They don't look familiar to me. Thanks for sharing, Harry.

The "found in an old camera in a footlocker" bit is an urban legand. These photos have all been known for years. Doesn't mean they aren't remarkable images.

I only wish they had digital color cameras back then. I could only imagine how it truly looked with the blue sky, green trees, black smoke, red fire and the Navy white uniforms.

And one picture that always shows the horror is the one of the bullet riddled sedan on the road. I am sure someone can find it and post it.

Well, I did say "supposedly" as I didn't really believe it either, I was just impressed by the pics I had never seen before.

I believe this event was eventually classified as a "friendly-fire" incident. I'll have to check where I read it. The car and occupants were destroyed by an explosion from a large caliber shell detonation.
