Re: Planespotting

Last batch -- they are leaving today I can hear them rumbling around my house now as I type, must be the last few rides.

They pulled the B-25 Sunday Punch over to the flight line with the Collings birds -- some local guy owns it... great-looking bomber.

In case you couldn't see the noseart well enough

This one is probably my favorite.

Only had one shot to catch the B-25 -- kids' patience wore out before it landed the second time... I wish I was more to the right to get more of an angle, but I was as far away from my kids as I felt comfortable with at the time.

The Mustang didn't got up -- next year hopefully better shots of it.

Here are some fire birds ...

Re: Planespotting

Great pictures, Steve! I've seen the "Nine O Nine" buzz my home in El Dorado Hills a couple of times. Last year, a U-2 from Beale buzz my place so low I wish I had
captured it on film. These days, I could see 2 black T-38s cruise by at least 3 times a week.

Re: Planespotting

Great pictures you posted there. Shots of the B-17 going over were pretty cool.

Re: Planespotting

What camera do you have? (And if Mrs. E says no, the Sigma 300mm APO is a good substitute until you can get her to say yes )

Sigma - Lenses

Hey Pappy I just won one of these on E-Bay last week, $130.00 delivered. Should go good with your old D50. Hopefully I will receive it before the 13th as I am hoping to go to the War Plane Heritage Museum in Hamilton for there annual Fathers Day week end airshow. And also that week end the Russel Group here in the Falls have an Air Show going on too. Any tips or tricks for using the lens would be appreciated.

Re: Planespotting

Speaking of these Fire bombers i was in Chico today to drop off my sister in law who happens to live by the airport and was watching the fire tankers take off from the airport and for the first time i saw the DC-10 Fire Tanker and man is that thing is big...I bet she carrys a good payload on that baby.....Saw her take off and landed once then left to head back to Redding.
Pretty nasty fire down there too.

Re: Planespotting

As a change of pace to the exterior shots of the Collings Foundation bombers, I'll post some of the interiors of both the B-17 and the B-24. I took these when I was with Pappy at their recent Sacramento appearance. This series is from their B-17:

This series is from the Collings Foundation's B-24 which I took at their recent Sacramento appearance. Sorry about the glare in some shots as the morning sun was brutal.
