Re: Robert Taylor Prints

Is this the print that all the bombers were lost in this raid?
JP

Hey JP, I found the following narration for this picture :

Robert Taylor's majestic new aerial combat painting shows Colonel Budd Peaslee's B-17 Equipose, flown by lead pilot Kemp Maclaughlin, leading the Fortresses of the 92nd Bomb Group en-route to the vital ballbearing factories at Schweinfurt. High over Germany, beyond the range of Allied fighter cover, the unprotected B-17s come under relentless attack from enemy fighters. Losses are high. Undeterred, the valiant crews press on to the target, their relentless determination and courage on that “Black Thursday” forever etched into aviation folklore. Sixty-nine B-17s were lost in the raid, causing the Eighth Air Force to cancel strategic daylight bombing missions deep into Germany until adequate long-range fighter escort became available a few months later. Nonetheless, it remained true and is a matter of record, that no Eighth Air Force mission was ever turned back by enemy attack.
