There is a painting out there called "Check Mate" by I believe a man called Hinz Krebs. To me this painting is beautiful. Its shows Big Beautiful Doll and another 78th FG Mustang shooting up a train. Of all the aviation paintings I want this is the one I wish I could own. But unfortunatly I cant because it costs so damn much. I also want the painting of Big Beautiful Doll by Stan Stokes. In that one it shows the Doll as I call her flying over a French Village. Col Landers just shot down a BF-109 and you can actually see the downed pilot saluting him as he flys by! Very cool. But "Check Mate" is the one I want but cant afford.

Yes, that's one among many captivating paintings of John Landers' famous mount - BBD P-51 'Stang. There are other artists who've painted JL's BBD nose art as well as the other a/c such as the T-Bolts from the celebrated 78th FG at Duxford that's worthy of mentioning. Keep an eye out for sales!

I got a print I'd been eyeing for years and never thought I'd be able to buy when a major aviation art supplier moved and had a clearance sale... I got an artists proof (maybe wrong term -- signed by artist) for $50.. normally $100 and the pilot signed versions were several hundred dollars...

I always liked those as well, but I've been on the lookout for "Hot Pursuit" by Nicholas Trudgian showing the P-51 in it's true element- high altitude interception/escort.
