NAS JRB Willow Grove - A few visitors

So I live about 3 miles from Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove in Horsham, PA. My house actually has a nice view of aircraft in the take off / landing pattern, so I luckily get to see military air traffic just about everyday. The base is scheduled to close in 2010, although the state is fighting it. However, it received a really big blow today as the Navy stated that it will not to go along with the Air Force and the states plan to keep the base open.
Anyways...so right now, A-10s, C-9s, C-130s, CH-53s, and C-12s are the regulars, but sometimes we get some nice visitors. This past weekend was no exception. Thursday nite, right after I got done watching ER with my wife (yeah yeah..laugh it up, it's actually a good show!), right at 11 pm, 2 very loud jets passed right over the house. I quick turned on my scanner and heard VAMPIRE 71. It was two F/A-18 Superhornets from Vx-9, one E and one F model. They stayed the weekend and left for home Sunday morning. And...on Friday, although I missed it, 2 A-10s from Barksdale LA came in. They left sunday as well. RUCKUS was their callsign. Thought you guys might like to see a few pics. These were actually hard to get a shot of, but at least you can see them. So here they are.

Re: NAS JRB Willow Grove - A few visitors

Must be nice once in a while see a F-18 fly by your house..
The only time they fly over my house is when the Blue Angels perform...
Hope they don't close the base...In the last few years we have not only closed down bases around the country but public airports as well
that is really a sad thing IMHO.
Hey Capt...A Spad flew over my house this morning...He was doing the touch and go landings this morning.
He lives here in town and will take the Spad up every once in a while...Cool looking to.
