| Old Photo Album I was rooting around in some old photo albums and I came across these pictures of a B-25. As near as I can remember the photos were taken in the early 1970s at Washington County Airport -- just south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I was at the airport taking a riide in a home-built (I was probably only 12 at the time) when a Sky Crane helicpoter "flew" the B-25 into the airport. The outer wing section came in later. The 'copter pilot said it was a difficult lift because the B-25 wings stubs were providing lift and the Mitchell wanted to "fly" on its' own. The B-25 was being sent to a local cemetary as a gate-keeper. Word has it that this plane flew in the Movie Catch-22. ![]() ![]() ![]() | |||||||||||||

| Re: Old Photo Album Thanks - the web site is great. Furthermore, I am sure glad my memory wasn't failing me. The restore is first rate - but I am fortunate that I had the opportunity to photograph her during a "mid-life" crisis. | |||||||||||||
