Does anyone know of any sites with tutorials or tips on photographing scale models?

Check out "Google'. There must be dozens of sites dealing with Micro-photography, which I believe is what you're looking for.
Up-close & personal, so to speak.

Re: Model photography

I would do a search on this site. I am pretty sure several of our members gave tips on how they photographed their diecast.

Mark Hackl's work is always excellent.

Tricatus's site apparently has some useful guidelines www.tricatus.co.uk .

Re: Model photography

I have a buch of bookmarks on this topic. I'll find and post them ASAP.
If you search google, don't search "Model Photography" you will get plenty of interesting returns but not many that are applicable. Search for "Macro Photography" or "product photography" and you'll find tons of sites that you can use.

Re: Model photography

I borrowed this technique from a fellow 1/6th figure collector buddy of mine - Jeff. I believe it's set up can be applied to any diecast model photography as well. Of course, your digicam must have a "Macro" focus feature so that you could optimize those nice and tight 'close-ups'.
