Re: Histoire & Collections

Does anyone remember the Aircam series of books? I think they were around in the 70s. Great for paint schemes. Are they still about I wonder?

I still have some.

Re: Histoire & Collections

I'll just add my agreement here - for art this series is very well done.

Personally, I have both Me 109 volumes; P-40; Stuka; and P-51 volumes.
I highly recommend all of them.

Can't wait to see the Fw190 and Hurricane volumes - thanks for posting that info.

I received the P-51 volume yesterday: *P-51 Mustang: From 1940 to 1980* through used books via AbeBooks. The book was sent from Grand Rapids, from Bargain Books. A long, roundabout way--but sometime the best prces. I paid $10 + $3.49 shipping. The book is like new. Great pictures, history, and drawings.

I have quite a collection of Mustang books, but this one I'll take with me to the desert island.

Thanks again for the recommendation.

Re: Histoire & Collections

I have a number of these books (the Planes and Pilots series) and agree these are terrific references, especially for the price.

I recently received one of the newest volumes in their hardback series which features incredible photography of vintage equipment/uniforms and period photos- it's about the 8th Air Force in WWII and is simply amazing. Below is an image of the 8th AF book and one of the soon-to-be released books in the Planes and Pilots series.

Hey Old Crow, where did you get the book on the FW-190? Looks like the same company of the paperback book I have on the ME-109 Volume II 1942-1945! I am looking for Volume I and also more of these books on other various WWII aircraft, like the FW-190. What great plates they have! My ME-109 Vol. II book has 81 pages with 4 aircraft per page (mostly) of different schemes, squadrons, etc. Simily beautiful and looking for more of these books (Historie & collections-Andrie Jouineau).

I have the Fw 190 book on order from Amazon, I do not believe it has been released yet.

I found them on a place you won't believe...Walmart. Yeap. old Wally World website site has them and also you can pre-order the FW-190 book too and will be sent by 31st December! I ordered the ME-109 Volume I (1935-194), and the JU-87 book. Plue the pre-order. So, it's all good now.

wmosner is right, I think. The Hurricane and FW-190 books have not been released yet, though they are due soon. I've purchased mine through Amazon which, to my mind, can't be beat: usually about 30% off and free shipping for any order of $25 and up.

Re: Histoire & Collections

I priced the books at both Amazon and Walmart and got a little better deal from Amazon.

Re: Histoire & Collections

Another cool thing about Amazon is you can use Borders gift cards, which are easy gift ideas for friends and family.

Looks like the Fw 190 book has been pushed back until February.
