Catalina (or for the colonials) PBY flight

On Saturday before the Newtownards airshow my son and I were lucky enough to be given a flight over Strangford Lough in Plane Sailings Catalina. The best bit was when my son said it was the happiest day of his life.

Very cool stuff. That is something both of you will remember for a very long time.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

What an awesome experience that must have been! I am completely jealous.

On a side note, I must say that it takes some cheek to assume that we "colonials" don't know that a Catalina is a PBY. Even though you Commonwealth types came up with the name first, plenty of colonials know the PBY by the name Catalina. Some of us even know what boots, bonnets and torches are!

My son has been crazy about the Catalina since he was three years old now seventeen. He didn't know about the flight until an hour before we went, seeing the look on his face was priceless.

Of COURSE I know what a Catalina is! It's a cross between a cat and a lina! Any ol' Colonial fool knows that!

That had to be a ride of a lifetime for you and your son....The country side looks really nice over there too.
Great Pictures.
