Re: Duke Cunningham seeks presidential pardon

Great! Just add the Unibomber, EnRon folks, Bin Laden and all the other to the list for a pardon.

Re: Duke Cunningham seeks presidential pardon

If Bush were to commute Cunningham’s sentence I could at least say he’d done something I agree with in the past 4 to 5 years.

Just curious -- he did something in the previous 2-3?

Yes, he cut taxes to spur the economy, and appointed some very fine judges.

Ah, so the economy's been spurred, has it? Sorry, hadn't noticed...

Because Duke did things on the same level with these guys right? Sorry old Duke did anything that a ton of others have done and are doing, he just got caught.

Pappy, the economy was spurred some time ago, as the cuts went into effect in 2001, if memory serves. We lived through 9/11, and other blows to the economy, and were doing pretty well. Yes, the economy has slackened as of late, but it is STILL growing, though enemically.

I hope that the Duke has learned his lesson and now it's time to move on.
He will always be remembered as a great Phantom pilot in my book.

Well I guess I'm in the group that thinks that "spur" was inherited and then subsequently FUBAR'D in short order. Sorry, back to model talk.....
