47 years of service is pretty darn good. I'm sure it was starting to be a struggle to keep everything running on her. Ever tried to get parts for anything that is 47 years old?

Sad to see it go, but 47 years is a mighty good run.
 

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

There is a group in North Carolina trying to get her. Would cost a ton of dough though. They estimate $7 million just to tow her down there.

I sure hope they do get her........I don't want the Kitty Hawk to end up like the Enterprise did after WWII.

Can always use another aircraft carrier as a museum, hope things work out this way for the USS Kitty Hawk.
