Daredevil Evel Knievel dead at 69

SI.com - More Sports - Daredevil Evel Knievel dead at 69 - Friday November 30, 2007 4:33PM

I saw him jump when i was a kid and i even took my motorbike and my brother and i built a ramp and then i jumped
2 cars...Landed not so good but at least i did it and it was fun....Then my mother took the motorbike away from me ...lol...Those were the days.
I will always remember him as a wild guy who pushed the limit..
RIP.

He was one of my hero's growing up, I think I jumped that poor toy motorbike I had of his off the roof so many times that my mom had to take it away from me lol. He will be missed.

The roof.....At least my brother and i made a ramp.... and i landed way over the other side past the ramp and made a not so good landing...
i was only about 12 or 13 at the time...I even had his toy motorbike and figure doll when i was kid too.

Re: Daredevil Evel Knievel dead at 69

Evel Knievel was one of the very few celebrities that I actually liked...I used to watch all his widely televised stunts on TV back in the day.
And, the Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle is in my Top 5 of the all time coolest toys!

I was thinking the exact same thing, Ara. I was/am a huge fan of hard rock and heavy metal and Quiet Riot was the first band I heard on the radio that made me go HOLY COW! when I was in junior high - they lead me to buy a guitar and playing it is one of the greatest joys I pursue to this day.

I remember being in grade school and watching EK on TV thinking it was the coolest thing ever. I had many a spill on my bike trying to emulate him and he always struck me as the real deal. I've seen many interviews with him in the last few years and always seemed to be honest and direct even to a fault - a trait he and Kevin DuBrow shared.

Rest in peace to both of these icons of my youth - heaven already had a heck of a band band but the addition of Kevin will make for a great soundtrack when Evel hits the ramp.
