Re: A-Rod wanted $350M from Yankees

I think that's more about Boras than it is about A-Rod. Frankly, the way NYC treated Alex I would have gone for the jugular too.

I think it's kind of like the pinstripes offer to Tore. It's an offer that you have to refuse. That way ARods turning down NY instead of them turning down him.

I don't know... Typical B-Ball more drama than substance.

That is why I have so lost interest in baseball, hockey the money these guys want is just retarded. I understand that they need to get by like the rest of us but come on, 350m I don't know how they can expect to be payed that when people are going hungry on the street and the fans have to pay and arm and a leg to watch them

A fan up in Toronto recently paid $120,000 for courtside seats at Raptor games. He then received a call telling him that there would be VIP seats in front of his, but he could buy them for another $175,000.
He is suing the Raptors.

I agree, it's more Boras than A-Rod. Here's another thing- do you think the agents would ask for this kind of salary if they knew that there was NO chance of an owner paying it? I put the problem of the escalating salaries squarely on the owners- they are the ones who are agreeing to pay these players that kind of money.

Re: A-Rod wanted $350M from Yankees

As a long time Yankee fan, I certainly agree. OK, so A-Rod finally had a good regular season, relative to his innate talent, but that's about it. He did a little better than the last few years in the Yankee's truncated post season but ,once again, he was hardly a champion on the diamond. I can only hope that the boobs who run the Yankees will stick to their guns just this once and develop a solid young pitching staff. That, plus good defense and timely hitting is what wins, not over-paid ,self-centered "superstars". Winning is a team effort, not a one man show.

To play the game of baseball -- come on, no one is.... ridiculously greedly. And to say it's his agent... please... who hired said agent? A-Rod is an A-h___ . If the Sox do/did pick him up, I'd have to start rooting for the cubbies. And I'm sure that the announcement of his opting out during the WS really was an "accident". I wonder who "leaked" it.......

Rush104 hit it square. Some owner ( not a corporation who owns a team, but an individual billionaire owner ) will say yes to that salary. They figure he will sell more seats thus justify his salary.

It is ridiculous, but in all honesty, if I could get some idiot to pay me that much money, why the heck not.
