| Re: Bush raises specter of 'WWIII' if Iran gets nuclear arms
Now you know it's not about good, It's about ambition personified. The money spent is incredible. If I hear another candidate talk about Americans tightening up their budgets in tough times...I'm gonna come unglued. Nobody would spend that much money on a campaign to get a job that pays a poosly $400K if they didn't want to use the office to ________________. | Re: Bush raises specter of 'WWIII' if Iran gets nuclear arms
Mike, I must respectfully disagree with your expressed sentiments toward the U.S. President. I do so stating I did not vote for the man, I have not been a fan of the administration, and I have not cared much for the Bush years. However, I am beginning to understand that he may be the only leader in the entire western world who understands that Islamo facism is a potent threat and terrible danger to the free world. I ask you to consider this question: is 300 + million sleep walking into destruction from Islamo facists? Remember Madrid? Remember London? Remember New York? Remember the USS Cole? Remember Achille Lauro? Remember the murder of Theo Van Gough? I could go on and on and on. What do these "terrorist" events have in common? They were carried out by Muslims who have an agenda to destroy the infidel west. Who is to blame for these horrible crimes? The Bush administration? U.S. foreign policy? I submit the answer is no and no. Blame lies at the feet of the people who are the aggressors in these crimes and who must take responsiblity for actions / dare I say acts of war? Now, I must also state that I do not believe all Muslims want to destroy the west, nor are they murderous thugs; however, all of the above events were perpetrated by Muslims who use Islam to perpetrate their murderous, hateful, agenda. Now... Ahmadinejad has stated his intention of wiping Israel off the map. He has called them a one bomb state. He also believes he can facilitate the return of the hidden imam (a Shi'a Muslim's belief in a redeemer figure that will put down all of the enemies of Islam in an apocolyptic chain of events). Who is really the scary character in this unfolding drama? I do not believe it is my U.S. President who understands what is at stake. And no... I do not see an analogy to the cold war with the Soviets. The Soviets believed in an ideology as do we, as do the Iranians. But not all ideolgies are created equal. With all of its faults, western democracy is still the last best hope on earth. Ahmadinejad's ideology is based on faith / religion. It is not rational in the western mind. We cannot reason with this ideology. It is an ideology that has called America the "Great Satan." Maybe we should start believing they mean what they say when they chant "death to America!" I think this Islamic ideology understands that if America were truly dead, there would be no one and no power that could stop the Islamicizing of the entire world. I am not a Jew, I am not a conspiracist, I am not Islamophobic, and I do not hate Muslims. I do, however, love liberal democracies given birth by the American Revolution and to a lesser extent the British Empire. We should all run to help our little liberal democratic cousins, wherever they live in the free world. Right now, that is Israel under threat from Iran. It does not help to blame the U.S. President as a nut, or a power hungry lunatic, despite the mistakes his administration may have made. It is not Bush's fault that the current Iranian administration is rattling sabers with Israel. Nor is it his policies. Nor is it U.S. foregin policy. Let us be clear about who is the aggressor in this drama. It is the actor who has called Israel a one bomb state and may be prepared to act on that statement based in a deep seated religious belief. The ring is actually on the other finger.

I think it goes something like this: "One ring to rule them all, One ring to bind them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." (Zoiks J.R.R. Tolkien geek starting to slip out,,, nooooo,,,,,,) Latter add on, middle one may be "One ring to find them" (Zoiks again, fact I would even try and correct is sign that Middle Earth geekdom is slipping out again,,, nooooo,,,,)

Wow.. For some of you guys, I have a great suggestion for a "movie day/weekend".. Go to your local Blockbuster video (or equivalent) and rent these 3 movies.. Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the ring (extended version) Lord of the Rings- The two Towers (extended version) and finally- Lord of the Rings- Return of the King (extended version) I suggest the extended version as it goes into more detail and explains things the theater versions don't. Also, its 12 hours of movie watching so I suggest viewing these over a weekend, unless you can do a marathon.. ![]()

Ok Elmer. But what does this have to do with me thinking he is the worst president ever? We aren't going to win this "war" in Iraq and never will. Not in a million years. I don't think either that the war on "terrorist" will ever be won 100% either. If the Presidente is so worried about the "terrorist threat" then how come this "border security" isn't #1 on the agenda? Don't cry "terrorist" to me when anyone can just walk across the border in to USA. A "terrorist" could catch a flight into Mexico City then get a ride to the border and sneek right across and blend right in. Enough said by me on this. ![]()

| Re: Bush raises specter of 'WWIII' if Iran gets nuclear arms
You suggested, I think, that he is the "king of goobers." Was that it? The suggestion is perhaps that he is crazy or off base when it comes to Iran? (I said nothing of the war in Iraq.) Others are using suggestions of his being a power crazed Sauron or Gollum (I think the picture is funny too... I saw it a while back and got a good laugh). My point is that we are dealing with a scary Iranian regime. JP posted a link to a story where Bush draws parallels of WWIII if Iran obtains nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them. Instead of folks recognizing this as a threat to the west, folks jump all over Bush as nuts, power crazed, off base, etc. etc. etc. I think it best that we start believing the Iranian regime when they call us the great satan, when they call Israel a one bomb state, when they issue fatwas against citizens of other contries. These are the bad guys. We had better start recognizing who the enemy is. To distract this issue you call Bush a "king of goobers." So what if he is. Tell that to Tel Aviv when it gets nuked and see if anyone laughs. Bush isn't so stupid that he can't do simple arithmetic: Hateful Fascit Iranian Regime (driven by religious zeal) + Nuclear Bombs = big trouble for Israel and the west. I can do this math. So whether you think he is the worst president ever, or not, what does this "thinking" have to do with Bush warning of WWIII if the west does not wake up and start defending itself from Islamo Fascism? Yes, it is fun to poke fun of Bush, I do it all the time. But I find it a bit troubling that no one on this thread, so far, expresses the least concern. Far from it. Some have even said it ain't gonna happen because nothin happened with the Soviets during the cold war. September 11th plays out vividly in my mind almost daily. I will never again fail to imagine that the worst case scenario couldn't happen. If we fail to imagine, we do so at our own peril.

| Re: Bush raises specter of 'WWIII' if Iran gets nuclear arms No George is not the King of all Goobers. Ok so he was wrong with the whole Weapons of Mass Destruction thing and he and his administration assured us we would not go in to the business of Nation Building (Oops he buggered that one too) and man I better stop now before I make him sound like a complete and utter boob. | |||||||||||||
