I'm not convinced that your hint at sarcasm has merit Mustangdriver. If we assume that your statement is even remotely accurate (based on your figure of 70%), it still means that approximately 30% do have electricity i.e. nearly 450 million people, which is somewhat more than the current US population of 300 million people in total ...

(I'm not trying to be a smart-ass or being patronising but any comparisons we make should take all variables into account and not be based merely on perceptions.)

I didn't maen it litterally just that living conditions for the average person there is not great, but they have a heck of a military.

What do you think was the percentage of households in the US with indoor plumbing on August 6, 1945?

Not nearly as many as the number of households that had central heating in Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945.
