Re: Is this the end of a proud history of the British Royal Navy?

Anyone seen the news today? Russia has just shut down oil supplies to most of Europe because of a row with Belarus!!! Prepare to jump folks.
Just thought I would throw this one in the pot. When most of Europe is dependent on Russia for all its power supplies including Britain what do we do if Russia shouts jump? Yes we shall all have to jump or shut down Europe. Food for thought eh?

Jim,
Hey there.

This probably won't have to much of an effect on U.S. oil prices. The moves by Hugo Chaves will have more of an effect.

Plus, the Russian shutdown won't last. They are having a p*ssing contest and seeing who blinks first. Both countries are far to short on cash to let this thing linger. (That's my uneducated guess.....)

Well the sight of mighty British cruisers parked next to St. Petersburg and/or Murmansk would strike the fear of God into Russians. Oh wait, that's right.

Hey, I have an idea. How about giving Russian oligarch Abramovich, a UK citizenship? Maybe in return he let the Royal Navy use his ships. I think by now, he has more and better surface vessels than the Royal Navy.

Also, maybe you could sweeten the deal for the Russians by letting some other Russian oligarch buy Arsenal FC & Liverpool FC (are they still, British-owned by the way?). Also, you imperialist Brits have proven to be inconsiderate hosts to all the Russian Billionaires that seem hell bent to set up domicile in your neck of the woods.

I mean all the best real estate in London has already been bought by filthy rich individuals from the former Soviet Union, yet all the street signs are still in English to say nothing of the fact that Londoners still speak the Queen's English and make no attempt learn the tongue of mother Russia. How rude of you.

Both countries are far to short on cash to let this thing linger. (That's my uneducated guess.....)

Unfortunately, Russia is one of the richest countries on Earth at the moment. The Russian government and aligned with it oligarchs want to build a new pipeline through North Western Russia into Finland and then into Western Europe, bypassing the old Eastern European route for political considerations. Something tells me, that the Russians won't stop until they get their wish.

Furthermore, if the price of oil jumps again, I don't think that the Russians will be too distraught.

Regards,

Sergey

Erm I gather you have not been to London for a long time! I think you will find it somewhat different now. However I must not complain we must all be PC!!!!

Re: Is this the end of a proud history of the British Royal Navy?

Jim speaks the truth. If you go into most shops in central London, you will find that the person serving you has a limited knowledge of the English lanuage.

Everyone wants to live in the U.K. because it is, to be honest, a brilliant country to live in.

If you get sick or are down on your luck, we have agencies to help you get back on your feet.

You can say what you like, and you won't get flung in jail!

Fat chance! We now have laws which forbid freedom of speech with regard to religion. Can you imagine that in the 21Century Britain would have laws which forbade people to say, " Sorry, but all that claptrap which you think is the word of God is all made up by some megalomaniac who fancied himself as a new brand in the recruitment wars and looked for a template and found it in Judaism!"

" Let's copy them, boys, and we'll call it by our own name and guess what? This is the best part-we'll be in charge! We can make a good living off this and anyone who doesn't like it we can cut bits off their bodies!"

Sorry, crap is crap! I reserve the right to say it.

Britain, walla, walla, bing-bang,

Re: Is this the end of a proud history of the British Royal Navy?

Yes, Jim,

it's good to have a rave at the politically correct paysage fundamentals who try to run our country, but end up ruining it.

If only we had a completely enlightened, incorruptible being from another planet to do it, we would be quids-in.

In the absence of interstellar sages, could I suggest your dog for P.M. He doesn't look nasty, probably eats an average amount, and wouldn't be swayed by promises of knighthoods, endless lecture tours of the U.S., loose women, big butts, big houses, bigger cars, holidays with the 'stars', ego-stoking party conferences or rendezvous on Hamstead Heath.

I feel that he is the kind of dog who could get us all to play ball.

woof-woof!

Lately the Aussie politicians have been getting all churchy - all a bit scarey really.
