Re: Tuskegee Airmen

Tuskegee Airmen Inc.'s Davis said he has questions about whether the downing of bombers might have happened after the Airmen were relieved by other squadrons that picked up the escort mission during long flights to targets..

This is the part that got me thinking about this.
Like you said we will have to wait and see..

Re: Tuskegee Airmen

I just can't see why this is even being looked at. Who cares? Let's make sure that we take some of the wind out of the sails of some 90 year old WWII vets.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Certainly sounds like it. But there is a african-american guy that is saying that too...so we can take only 50% of the blame now it looks like, and not a 100%!

Re: Tuskegee Airmen

What I don't understand is why would anyone find the claim offensive? I think I would rather know the real truth on whether or not is was accomplished then try to defend something that I'm not sure is 100% true.

Re: Tuskegee Airmen

I think the Tuskegee Airmen and others made the claim based on information
they had at the time or were given.

So as far as they knew everything they said was true based upon the information they had.

IMHO it really comes down to this;

They did an amazing job under difficult circumstances and they should be remembered proudly for the amazing service they gave along with all of the other Veterans.

The exact details and minor statistics I will leave to the Armchair historians.

Re: Tuskegee Airmen

My 2 cents...if someone makes a claim that big that makes it into the history books we owe it to future generations less sentimental than ours to have the raw facts. I respect the TA and if it is found that they lost a couple perhaps that were damaged slightly and finally subsided later under other squadrons watches than heck who really cares whose responsible. I think clarification is good it does keep vets from over emphasizing facts. Let's not tarnish distinguished performances but facts should be facts.
