| Identity of last Tomcat to fly? Pretty interesting note in Flight Journal (Feb. 2007, page 14) by Eric Tegler about the actual Cat to make the last official flight on 9/22/06 during the Tomcat Sundown ceremony at NAS Oceana. According to Tegler, the -D that moved out to the active runway was painted with a special 70's era paint scheme for the ceremony, but when it was out of sight at the end of the runway it was "swapped" with a bird from VF-31, complete with Felix the Cat and bomb insignia, apparently due to technical problems. Should be interesting to see how it is marked if anyone puts out a model of the F-14 from this ceremony. | |||||||||||||
