Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection

Now open in Everett, Washington is the Flying Heritage Collection, a warbird collection owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. During the summer they plan to have fly days where the aircraft are taken out and flown.

Re: Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection

Great looking museum. One those museums you could spend a few days at.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Did Jim see that P-40C?

I looked at the collection on their website. An original Zero and Oscar among other unique airplanes. Yup, it's a must see.

Re: Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection

I see they have an I-16 and an Fw 190D in their collection too (I think I remember reading about that in Fly Past last month...). If I ever visit British Columbia I'll be sure to drop down there... I'm sure Lauren will understand. There are some very rare airworthy birds there! Not to mention the guy that owns the collection has enough money for expansion.

The Fw 190D is the same Fw 190 D13 produced by Carousel 1, yellow 10 flown by Franz Gotz. I have some pictures of it in a Flight Journal special issue on German Fighters. If I had a scanner, I would put them up for all to see.

Re: Paul Allen's Flying Heritage Collection

Allen's collection is very impressive. They also fly thier aircraft during the Arlington fly-in and on some weekends. The Storch was especially impressive. It was almost flying backwards in the breeze.
His collection is also impressive since they try to use all authentic building materials. The tour guide was pointing out how they had stripped the plastic coated wire out of an airplane to replace it with cloth covered wire as it would have been originally equipped.

I wonder if the BBMF go that far.
