Barksdale AFB

I had to go to some company training in Texas, and then Shreveport, LA. One day when the training was finished, we ran down to the museum on Barksdale AFB. Here are some pics.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Barksdale AFB

I was shocked to see a B-24 there. I think I would have chosen a different paint scheme for it as well, but I have to appreciate the rarity of it.

Re: Barksdale AFB

The hardware that was flying in and out while I was at the base was amazing.

Re: Barksdale AFB

If I recall correctly, a couple of these used to be displayed at Pease AFB (now Pease ANGB) NH before the active duty turned it over to the ANG. I recall seeing a B-47 and KC-97 there. They were moved lock, stock and barrel down to Barksdale. Pease still has a refueling wing with KC-135s, run by the ANG, although, like many other former active duty bases, the real estate is much reduced with portions sold off to civilian businesses.
