Re: Technik Museum Speyer, Germany

Hello, thanks for your comments here.
I will try bring in some answers to your questions now.
A swastika is allowed on this plane because it is an original piece from that time. Even an aircraft model would be ok with the swastika on it when it was build
between 1933 - 1945 ( or 1939 - 1945 I´am not sure ) But all replicas from nowadays not allowed with swazi.
Even in Airplane magazines here in Germany you will find old black/white photos of a Bf-109 with swazi and right next page a colour drawing of the same A/C without it.
It is politics

When it comes to the 747-200, here are some more details.
As you can see this is an ex-Lufthansa jet, D-ABYM. Lufthansa phased out all of it´s 747-200 passenger jet & freighter some years ago and this particular one was sold for 1€ to the Technik Museum Speyer.
It was flown to Baden Airpark, disassembled and transported via barge to Speyer. Then assembled again and lifted on it´s Platform.
The plane is accessible. The complete interior in the back was removed so one can see the stucture of the frame.Walking towards the nose / upper deck and cockpit, more and more layers are attached again so that when you arrive in the business class, you will see the original cabin again.
I found this short film, sorry not in english

Thanks for that explanation, derhamburjung. It even (maybe) makes at least a little bit of sense (in it's own warped way).

Thank you for the expanded information on the "Lufty" B742 and the video of the move. Looks as if it were an event not to be missed...!
