Re: Exhibits at the Chino Planes Of Fame

The Chino airport has some great Warbird facilities. They're always having events there. I only live about 40 minutes away.....shame I don't visit more often! BTW, their big annual airshow is in May. Anyone who loves classic warbirds has to go to this at least once. I went one year where they put about 35 warbirds in the air at the same time and it was very impressive. Once you see that, it's kinda mind-numbing to imagine what the axis must of felt seeing hundreds of allied planes flying over their countries!

Re: Exhibits at the Chino Planes Of Fame

I envy all you chaps that live in California, Chino is a great place to visit and they do some great restoration projects there.

Heck half the stuff at Duxford came from there.

If any of you get the chance you must go there.
btw have a look at the scrapyard around the back!

Re: Exhibits at the Chino Planes Of Fame

When I was stationed at Nellis AFB I used to make a trip there 2 to 3 times a year. The folks that run the museum are real friendly. I went there a couple of times when they were still restoring a P-40C from out of Russia. I actually got to hold some of the bullets that they had found in the fuselage. Great museum to visit.

Re: Exhibits at the Chino Planes Of Fame

You lucky blighter.

The Chino museum is excellent to say the least. They pretty much gave me a private tour of the P-40C restoration project and was able to get a couple of nice shots of it. They repaired all the bullet holes in the plane except one, and you can just barely make it out on the front edge of the panel opening. Also through in a photo of a Spitfire they were working on.

Re: Exhibits at the Chino Planes Of Fame

All this talk and photos makes me think I should take a short trip there this weekend! I'll try to get some photos if I go!
