Nice selection of Japanese light tanks. Kind of a rare vehicle to see.

Re: Patton Museum - Fort Knox, KY

I bet that turret is almost as heavy as a light tank!!! The amout of metal in one of those is just mind blowing, I tell ya the germans knew how to make heavy tanks!!!

I'm here with a friend of mine who is Infantry. He knows just as much about tanks as I know about infantry stuff (what do you mean I have to walk?!?!!!!)

He looked at the King Tiger and asked me what would you have to do to destroy it? I told him an air attack on the top of it, or let it run out of gas and the crew abandons it.

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

Can you pic some of those poor guys seeing one of these for the frist time??? It would be holy run!!! At least the russians had the stalins and they could be on terms with them, untill the new 90 mm came into the ETO at the end of the war they were screwed !!!! The poor little stuart tank, they could have ran over it lol. Speaking of the 90 mm did they have any pershings there???

Re: Patton Museum - Fort Knox, KY

I need to plan a trip to see that museum. Really like the side shot of the Panther. Lots of nice pictures!!!!

Its actually the Panther II that was a runner until they decided it was too rare to ruin. I hate what the Army did to that King Tiger and the Tiger I on loan to Germany. Cutting them open like that is just wrong!

Re: Patton Museum - Fort Knox, KY

I believe they have days when you can get on the vehicles on static dispaly. They get a bunch of soldiers to stand as safetys and make sure no one falls off. I saw a Boy Scout troop do it in 2004.

On the 4th of July they break some out for a small mock battle.

The cutaway was definitely not the thing to do with those pieces of history. Not like there are to many of those vehicles left in the first place, but to carve them up, not a good idea.

Ya that is a shame that they did that, it is neat to see inside but it sort of takes away form it, to bad they could not have found an old damaged one they could have done that too
