Thumbs up Re: Canadian war museum

I will be posting more pics of the museum soon, glad that you guys liked them! I have a pic of one of Hittlers car that the museum has with broken windos and all. The museum is located in Ottawa Canada, and is worth the vist. It moved me to see what are men went though in the first and second world war. They are heros for sure what else can I say!! In all the museum cover's war's from canada's begining right up though the first and second to the present. Being a tank nut I was very happy to see german and russian armour as well as tanks that the U.S and canada used. I wish I could have got inside some to see what they were like, but no such luck. In fact I got chased out from behind one as I was trying to get pics of the back of it by this lady who works there lol. Oh well at least I seen some cool stuff and I left happy as could be, my grandfather was a tanker in world war two and drove a sherman so it was next to see a couple of them there. I collect can-do drangon 1-72 armour and 1-35 and 1-18 21 century toys. I also have some forces of valour and once in a blue moon I model but it has been years. I an getting into collecting dragon world war two planes as of late lol not as many as my tanks as that is my thing more then planes. I have a great wife who supports my hobby and puts up with all the space not only my tanks, planes and books take but diecast muscle cars as well lol. But my first love will always be all things miltary and of course tanks!!!!

Smile Re: Canadian war museum

As for what country and era I collect former viper, I tend to stay with world war two but love the german lepored and british challenger tanks as well. I have Three diorama's of dragons world war two armour and just love them including the challenger one. In fact I have a number of dragon 1-72 and can- do as well. Hope to add a British firefly and more shermans can never have enough shermans lol. The reason I love the lepored so much is because I have been inside one a few times as are army here has about 100 of them but they are getting to old and need replacement soon. What kind of armour do you have in you collection viper? Take care and happy tanking.

Re: Canadian war museum

Excellent pictures from the CWM and for the most part welcome aboard-The pictures are great, the comment about the female staff member who was engaged in doing her job and protecting the objects that you travelled 1200
km to see , not so great. Its awfully difficult to judge who might be in back taking a picture and who may be taking a souvenir, so lets keep it civil.

Hey maple leaf you do have a point there about thieft, but it is kind of hard to make off with a tank on my back I'm just a little guy(just kidding not trying to be a smart ass) I can see that they are looking out for the best for all that the CWM has so I can respect that. Have you been there yet Maple leaf? IF not get on down there you will be happy that you did. For that matter have you seen the lancaster in Hamiton or the Haifax at trenton. WAY cool, sure makes you respect the young men who went up in these plance some never to return. I have seen the lancaster twice, can't get over the size of it not to metion that it would not take much for a german shell to go though the plane .

Re: Canadian war museum

I've been to the new CWM twice since it opened, its a huge improvement over the old one, more display area and a purpose-built design that really enhances the displays. Yes I've been to Trenton
also, I lived directly across the road from the RCAF museum's current location when I was younger. Actually I used to curl in the museum, it used to be the Base Curling Club. If you want to see armour
you should get up to CFB Borden Ontario. they have more than 60 pieces from WW1 right through to present on display in outdoor settings Canadian, German, Russian, American and even French.
They are placed all over the base on hardpans at treelines etc and they look great. Borden was the birthplace of the Canadian Armoured Corps. Oh and it is also the birthplace of the RCAF so they do have a number of Canadian military aircraft on display as well. I will try to forward some photos from Borden to the site soon. I was based in Gagetown a couple of times and I loved it down east, good people, welcome aboard.
