Re: USAFM restoration shop

Well the Beaufighter went on display in the WWII hangar, as it is just about finished. THe Mig 29 is getting ready for paint, and it will be moved into the museum shortly as well as the RF-84. Work is now starting on the verticle stabalizer of the Memphis Belle.

That Beaufighter is 'bootiful' - almost as good as the IXO version .

Re: USAFM restoration shop

Yeah, it is the markings of the USAAF fighter group that flew them during the war.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: USAFM restoration shop

Thanks Canknucklehead for the info on the Beaufighter. It was most interesting. Now to find a model to represent 'The Battle Of Britain' will be most difficult. 'The quest is on'. Swoop

Is that a Liberator next to the bristol? I've never been to any of these airmuseums...though I've always wanted too. Maybe I'll take the boys to the Seattle museum around Thanksgiving. I agree that not selling diecast at the musuem would be a shame...whenever I go to an airshow I always go searching for diecast of the planes I've seen for the memories.

I have heard the the Museum of Flight is a great museum as well. They have a very beautiful B-17, and B-29.

mustangdriver; That Beaufighter looks absolutely gorgeous

Many, many British aircraft enthusiasts are gutted that the one at Duxford (which is being restored to flying condition & will become the world's only airworthy example), has been sold & will be leaving the U.K. in the near future, (long before becoming flightworthy).

Considering the numbers built, like many important W.W.II British aircraft types, they are VERY thin on the ground, in terms of numbers remaining - so it's nice to see the example you've shown.

Any chance of a side-on view ?????????
