Kalamazoo Air Zoo

I am heading to the Air Zoo this weekend with some friends. I was there a few years ago, but since then they have added a bunch of aircraft and a new facility. I will take some pics.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Kalamazoo Air Zoo

A C-5 comes in to PIT once in a while. When that thing leaves, it is a site to behold.

Re: Kalamazoo Air Zoo

The Airzoo was great. By all means if you get a chance, get there. They have the inside of their massive new facility set up to look like different airfields through out the years. The WWII briefing huts were really impressive. So was the carrier deck area. I will post some pics tonight once I get home.

Re: Kalamazoo Air Zoo

I'd really like to see the pics I was thinking about going up there myself...even though I noticed the price of admission isn't nearly as attractive as the National Museum of the United States Air Force

Re: Kalamazoo Air Zoo

I thought the same aat first, it was like $16.00, I don't know because I had a free pass. My full price paying friends really loved me for that. However, it is worth it. They have three main buildings right now. The new main facility, which is awsome, the research hangar which houses all of the Grumman cats as well as some other great stuff, and the restoration center, where I sat in the cockpit of a Viking, and an F-104! Eventually they are going to add on to the new facility, and it will all be over there, but for right now, everything is at least indoors. I will post some pics tonight.

Re: Kalamazoo Air Zoo

I'm about an hour from there and they have a sweet Torch Dauntless like the one HM is releasing. I see you made it over to that other building by the look of that red and white check Corsair. Sure wish I had a good pic of that Dauntless but mine came out way dark. Love the Jolly Rogers F-14 too.

They actually flew it there. The same with the SR-71 which mad the trip in like an hour, from California. Then the government took the engines out and kept them. Figures. My aunt knows the guys who painted the walls, incredible artwork! This place is a must see for aviation buffs and the simulator is 360. Pull back on the stick and you're hanging on your straps...awesome.
