Re: Kawanishi N1k1 Kyofu 'Rex'

I have it and like it. It is a typical model power in terms of detail. The big selling point was the subject matter. It's my only diecast japanese seaplane.

Re: Kawanishi N1k1 Kyofu 'Rex'

I have this one also. It is one of the one or two best models that Model Power produced prior to its B-25, B-26 and a few other recent items. Detail is a bit skimpy, of course, and they used a very light green on my model, which is a far cry from Japanese Navy Green. But where else can you get a diecast "Rex" at MP's prices?

Re: Kawanishi N1k1 Kyofu 'Rex'

Thanks again for the feedback, guys.

You know I was just fantasizing that maybe the two companies: 1/72nd IXO & 1/48 Marushin's N1K2 Shiden "George" fighter a/c, could/should make a floatplane version of their diecast fighter, since that particular Japanese naval fighter a/c did evolve from the Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu 'Rex' floatplane design in the first place. Man, how cool would that be?!!

What scale is this in? 1/100? I wish it was in 1/72 scale, which I collect.

It's 1:100 and not bad really. You can't go wrong for such a cheaply priced model.

Yepper, I would want that to be in 1/72nd as well!

It's a cool model. I reckon get it if you like it. At times I just can the scale issue and get it cos I like it or just want it. This is especially if I think it's not going to get done in 1/72. Yes, I know, consistency in scale is good and most of my birds are 1/72. I did get a few Sunderlands in 1/144 and a couple of Mirage IIIs in 1/100 for example.

I am afraid it wouldn't be that straightforward flyXwire...

Remember, if the N1K1-J had been a simple land adaptation of the N1K1, the N1K2-J resulted from an extensive redesign of the airframe, to move the wings to the low position...

Yes I do agree with you on that, however, there is no reason whey they can't do a N1K1 Kyofu 'Rex' even if it means retooling the mould to accomodate the airframe design.
