Re: Weathering Models

A number of magazines, such as FineScale Modeler, offer articles on this subject. You might email the editor who may put you onto a good reference. Also, if you go to Google and search for articles on "weathering airplane models", a ton of stuff usually pops up.

Re: Weathering Models

Don't forget you could visit a local model club and get first hand help with your projects. Our club gets guys often who only come for a bit of help on a project.

Re: Weathering Models

If you can find them, pastel charcoals are really neat to use for making exhaust stains. I have a couple of sets that I use and have a basic grey & basic earth tone set. It allows you to apply several colors to get desired exhaust stain effect. Takes a little practice though.

That's a good idea, perhaps you can show us some pics later.
Funny that there were very few weathered models at a model contest I was at a couple of weeks ago.
Lost skill or not liked?

Re: Weathering Models

When I use to do armour I use to mix a touch of thiner with back paint a "wash" as they call it, it works not bad at all.
