Thumbs up Ahem. What's this? A 1/72 Do.X?

Take a look at OnMark's page of photos from the 2007 New York Toy Fair, and page down to the Model Power section. There's just one item there (as of this writting), and I cannot believe what it says:

Model Power 1:72 DOX Flying Boat

Did I read that right? Let me read it again:

Model Power 1:72 DOX Flying Boat

My eyes must be deceiving me. Perhaps a picture would clarify:

No. That doesn't help... it looks like it might be a 1/72 or 1/144 scale Do.X flying boat. That can't be right. Could it????

How bizarre.Looks pretty detailed....also shows a Witty SU-27 that looks remarkably like an F-14.

The 1/72 Dornier Do-X is real. Go to www.sky-stars.com (it's in German, so...). Retails for 199 Euros here in Germany (about $260). It's over two feet wingspan. Very tempting indeed!

I saw it first advertised on the back page of "Flieger Revue," a German language aviation magazine.

Huzzah for the Flying Boats! I think I would save up my money for this one.

The ad in the magazine says the stand is made to look like one of the airplane's engine. It also says "only 793 left," out of 2000 built.

So maybe these Do-Xs are going fast despite the price...

Take a look at Berlin Aviation Center. They have it in stock and do indeed claim it is metal (5 kilos worth).
