gee bee

I just received an awesome little plane, it is called gee bee, it is my first and only racer and I find it is beautifull and almost all metal.
Unfortunately the wheels dont turn, they are metal.
I must say, I wish more manufacturers would make race planes, like this one.

Re: gee bee

Jinks, you owe me a Coke. Our posts were logged at the same time...being it's for Model Power, what are the odds? By the way, glad to hear you found such a great model. I only wish MP had more consistent scales! They seem to be all over the place (why 1/70 instead of 1/72, for instance).

Re: gee bee

I have this in polycast. I've always been interested in this little aircraft.

Yes, I always liked this slick little racer. Here in Florida, at FANTASY OF FLIGHT, a half hour south of Orlando (Polk City-off Interstate 4) there are 2 examples. One is this red/white version and the other is a great looking black/yellow version. Very cool and would love to get both versions. Next order with the Mule, I will get the red/white one.

I will get this one since I missed out on the Hallmark Hall of Aviation collections. I'm just a sucker for racing planes of the Golden Age of Aviation. I
hope MP will consider doing other racing aeroplanes of the Granville Brothers.

Re: gee bee

Don't forget the Gee Bee by First Gear (in 1/48 scale) as well as my favorite: the three 1/48 scale Gee Bees made by Union Model.

Re: gee bee

What I'd like to see is the racer version of the spitfire, it was a float plane I believe.

You're thinking of the Supermarine S.6 perhaps? Not a lot in common between the two aircraft, although the Spitfire claims the S.6 as its inspiration.

Re: gee bee

Mine arrived today and I am quite impressed. I was not sure what to expect from this particular aircraft.
Also had the Vickers Viscount and Sud Caravelle arrive with the Gee Bee.
I really like the way the Caravelle turned out!

From the Postage Stamp side of the house I got the new Hurricane. I think it is the best one so far. Also got the new Avro Vulcan. Only difference is a new registration number and the camo paint is on the bottom as well. Not much to write home about there.
