Re: Vote for the next aircraft

I only collect the WW I Postage Stamp planes. Nothing on that list of interest. How about an SE5a, Spad XIII, and Nieuport 'Bebe"?

Re: Vote for the next aircraft

For those who are waiting with baited breath for the finalists to be decided, Model Power's latest poll determining three new planes to be done--allegedly-- in 2008, has recorded 46,247 votes, which, I assume, represents the choices of about 15,400 voters. The top seven planes currently are as follows: 1) TBF/TBM- 8284 votes, 2)BF-110- 7761, 3)F-105-5926, 4) F6F- 5712, 5)AT-6-5388, 6) C-5- 5340 and 7) F-111- 4073. No other plane is even close to number seven. Of these, the C-5 mystifies me. Even if MP gives this plane an 8" wingspan, as I assume it will do for the Avenger and BF-110, it will look like it came from Lilliput. I have a similar reservation on the F-105. Will it be as small as MP's tiny Mig-23? Or will MP try to make it a decent size?

Well, a C-5 model with 8" wings (assuming the model makes the cut) will still make a nice model. There's enough paint jobs over the last thirty years to keep the model going for a while. Heck, in the last three years, we've had some new Guard and Reserve units (Memphis, Martinsburg W VA, and Wright-Pat) re-equip with C-5's. Also, Dover and Travis have adopted new tail flashes in the last year.
Although, to truly do the C-5 justice, I'd like to see somebody release one in 1/144th scale...

Re: Vote for the next aircraft

I'm sure that many of you are on pins and needles as you await the final tally in Model Power's voting to select three new planes to be produced--supposedly in 2008. The poll closes on October 31 and, as of now, the BF-110 and TBF/TBM are safely locked in for the top two positions. The real nail biting concerns the race for third, which is now a neck and neck contest. With more than 47,000 total votes cast, the F-105 has 5958 votes while the F-6F has 5927.So if anyone wants to support the much ignored F-105, this is the time to vote in MP's poll.
I wonder how they will account for dimpled chads? Be still my beating heart.

Re: Vote for the next aircraft

I have heavily voted for the F-105 "Thud" and I hope it holds on to the 3rd spot.

I have around 40 Model Power planes and I still collect them in order to fill gapes left by other companies. I wish people would vote for planes which were not already available in die-cast such as the F-101, B-47, or B-58.

One of the great things about Model Power is that they are similar to IXO and do planes which no one else would do. Can anyone else see Dragon releasing a P-26 anytime soon?

Model Power tried selling a Blue Angel set a while back I wish they would do the same with a the Century series fighters.

Re: Vote for the next aircraft

Bad news for F-105 fans. The latest returns from Model Power's poll, which closes this month, has the F-6Fpulling ahead of the F-105 for third place by 67 votes ( 6048 to 5981 ). With the number of new voters thinning out the F-105's chances for a place on MP's 2008 schedule now seem slim, indeed. Maybe Hobby Master will see this as an opportunity and give us a much better F-105 than MP would have made.

Re: Vote for the next aircraft

The final returns on Model Power's poll seem to be in and I'm sorry to say that the F-105 was beaten out for third place by the F-6F by a few hundred votes out of nearly 49,000 cast. Their three new planes, allegedly for 2008, will be the BF-110, TBF/TBM and the F-6F. I wonder if the folks at Hobby Master are quaking in their boots at the prospects of a head-on confrontation with the "me too" guys at MP. Somehow, I doubt it. Do MP's honchos even know that these planes have already been done---and much better quality-wise? Who knows?
