Dornier DOX

Model Power has released a spectacular toy model of the gigantic, luxurious DOX in a weird scale, 1:350. The casting's nice, and so is the printing; however, the engines and their struts seem to me to be crooked!

Have a peek:

Re: Dornier DOX

Nice pics, thanks!
According to my references, the Dornier Do X originally had radial engines, and the braces in between them were covered with fabric to form a winglet for additional lift. It was later re-engined with water cooled inline engines, and as shown in the model above, the braces were exposed and the upper winglet removed. The braces should indeed be straight. However, each engine was slightly forward or to the rear of the adjacent engines to allow the propeller arcs to overlap slightly. Perhaps Model Power was striving to reproduce that effect by offsetting the engines.
An interesting model, and would look good posed with 1:350 scale naval ships (a common scale for them).

Re: Dornier DOX

Would you happen to know the dimensions of that model?

Re: Dornier DOX

For a 1:350 scale it would be
Length: 4 1/2 inches
Wingspan: 5 3/8 inches
