PBY Catalina

Stumbled on the Rescue version today at Hobby Lobby while getting a frame for some aviation art. All MP is 30% off right now and I got hooked into buying my 1st one. I think it's very nice for the $ and size, a little over $11 with tax. It's big even at 1/150 and the colorful wings really stand out in the case. Anybody know the history of this boat. I see Corgi is doing a similar scheme.

Re: PBY Catalina

Corgi were beaten to it (that scheme) some time ago (mid-late 'nineties), by Revell, who chose to release it in those markings on one of their
last PBY 5A issue/releases in 1/48th scale (inj-moulded plastic kit).

Guess that may be part of the inspiration/reason for Corgi releasing this post-war sceme ???
