Help Modeller Needed

Hi guys,
I just won a Monogram 1/72 scale USAF ARS Grumman HU-16 Albatross amphibian on e-bay. I am an average model builder and while I would like to build this kit myself was wondering if there are any souls among us who would be willing to assemble this model for me. I would be willing to trade diecast or pay for this service if the offer is reasonable. This model is very special to me and I want someone who is detail oriented and loves to build models. If anyone meets this criteria please contact me thanks!

I agree on all counts Capt'n. I love building them but I'm not that good at it. I'd be really afraid to screw up Louie's bird. Not volunteering anyone here but.... no4mkit does seem to have a certain special god-given gift.

Thumbs up Re: Help Modeller Needed

Too bad our old master modeler Chris doesn't live in the states. He built a lot of models for guys over in England. He still posts over at the UK site. Check out some of his work at http://forums.diecast-aviation.eu/member.php?u=881.

Re: Help Modeller Needed

I would be willing to do it, but I would want you to check out my colelction first, As I built a lot of it. If you think it is up to your standards, then sure I will give it a go. What paint scheme are you looking to put on it?

Re: Help Modeller Needed

I am fine with your expertise. The only thing I would want to avoid would be gaps and seams. If you are the type to fill and light sand I'm game. I am not really that picky. The plane comes in USCG and USAF options. I am partial to the USAF scheme as I am prior USAF myself. I would like to forward you an article from a guy who built one of these kits detailing how he did it and his general impression of the model itself. I am not a perfectionist so don't worry I am very very grateful for the assistance. Please be expecting the article in a later posting. When the model arrived i will get your info and mail it to you. Thanks MD.

Re: Help Modeller Needed

The one at the NMUSAF is in the basic scheme that most of them carried with the USAF. I will post some pics of it. I will also post some pics of some of my built models, and make sure you approve. If you don't, you will not hurt my feelings. Everytime I do something I think is good, I see something that a person did online that puts mine to shame. I do the filler in the seems and weight in the nose on tricycle gear.

Re: Help Modeller Needed

I haven't built and painted a model since 1991. I am too lazy now and would have to use reading glasses or a magnifier to paint the small parts and plus the time to do it. That is why I turned to die-cast and pre-built stuff. Just as cheap too by the time you buy the paint and model, it probably would cost more anyway. Though, there are some really great models that there will be no way any die-cast companies would make too.
