Re: New Airfix Nimrod

No problem, I took on a large project when I met Lorraine.

Its good to see Airfix have made those sprue attachment points a lot finer.

Did that take a lot of airbrushing, Jim?

Re: New Airfix Nimrod

For all you Nimrod fans out there-
In my travels last week, I was able to see two Nimrods on a ramp. One was grey and the other was hemp. Does this color difference denote different mission taskings for the aircraft? Or, are all the Nimrods being repainted grey, and I happen to see one that hasn't been repainted yet?
Other than the paint jobs, I could not see any external differences between the two...

Re: New Airfix Nimrod

There are two variants of Nimrod operational, the MR.2P the maritime recce variant and the R.1 the "sneaky" one .Most MR.2Ps are painted hemp and the R.1s are camo grey with light aircraft grey panel on the top of the fuselage,to complicate things the MR.2Ps as they come out of servicing are being painted grey so from a distance the best way to tell is if there is a "stinger" on the tail it's a MR.2p,if it hasn't it's an R1.I'm finishing the model as an MR.2P

Thanks for the clarification, sniper. Both definitely had the stingers.

Cool Re: New Airfix Nimrod

Hi to everone at the Model Hangar,
I am new to this site, so forgive any first time nerves!
Anyway, my nimrod turned up today, & I too am very impressed by the size of the beast.
Mine will be made as an R1, as I live a couple of miles from RAF Waddington, where 51 Sqn operate the R1, so they are quite a commom (& noisy!) sight.

Check out Model Alliance decals for this kit.

They have produced 3 very well detailed sheets, offering a plethora of different markings, for all variants..
Will post some pics when mine turn up.

They are available from a company here in the uk, called Hannants, you may be familiar with them?

If not, type in H G Hannants into your search bar, & then marvel at the range of models & accessories available to us lucky modellers here in the UK>

Check the Ebay Listings forum for the latest diecast model listings on eBay.
