New Airfix Airfield sets

I was hoping for abit more authentic airfield sets. Not much has been added as in equipment and the men are soft plastic as I can tell.

Re: New Airfix Airfield sets

LzyBns,
Hey there.

How much are these sets? For a novice like me, they look pretty good.

Anything for a weird life.

They look good to me! I'll be visiting a hobby shop later today, will have to look for them.

The RAF Spitfire base at my 'namesake' still has one/two of those 'blast revetments' ( just like is featured

in that set, with the Spitfire & AEC Matador re-fuelling Bowser)

It's used as a 'car-park' for what is now the 'Hornchurch Countryside Park' = most folks are unaware of

it's historic significance, regarding it's use during the Battle Of Britain.

Judging by the countless derelict (& famous) USAAF bases I've visited over the last 25 years, that

Nissan/Quonset hut looks a tad small, in front of that 'Bodney' Mustang !!!!!!!

Great idea, to stir & fire up the imagination of kids though, & get 'em interested !!!!!!!!!

Re: New Airfix Airfield sets

I went to my local hobby store yesterday, they do not have them yet, is what the man said. When I asked when they would have them, he indicated they may not carry them at all. He sure was a positive bloke, wasn't he!

ps they did, however, have the Udet Fokker Tripe from Carousel for $59.99, which is their normal price. When asked if they could order any give one for me at that price, I was told yes, as long as it was available. And to think I just purchased that exact model from someone on this site for around that, and had to pay shipping! That;'s OK, though, great model!
